WHENWellbeing in Higher Education Network
The Wellbeing in Higher Education Network is a coalition of richly diverse, leading higher education institutions and organizations that are committed to catalyzing a culture of inner wellbeing within the social change education field.
We believe that a flourishing life arises from the integration of well-being, contemplation, and social innovation, and that it occurs via engagement within ourselves, in our relationships, and with the world. When successful, it has the power to positively change individuals, communities, and societies.
The Wellbeing in Higher Education Network is co-hosted and co-convened by The Wellbeing Project, Georgetown University, Highpoint University, and Instituto Tecnológico y de Estudios Superiores de Monterrey.

Ways To Get Involved In WHEN Ways To Get Involved In WHEN
There are many ways to engage with the Wellbeing in Higher Education Network (WHEN), a living, co-created community shaped by the participation, care, and ideas of those who take part in it. Through monthly online gatherings, special groups, interviews, newsletters, and in-person summits, the network brings people together to learn, share, and grow as a global community advancing wellbeing in higher education.

Special Groups
Special Groups are a core initiative within the network, emerging from members’ shared interests in specific topics related to wellbeing in higher education. These groups are led by members who facilitate learning, creation, and leadership in a collaborative space. Each group has its own mission and approach, which may involve sharing resources, hosting discussions, organizing webinars, and co-developing tools and actions to enhance wellbeing in education. These flexible and inclusive spaces are open to all, allowing members to join the groups that align with their interests and goals.

Research
Brings together the collective knowledge of the WHEN community to explore key questions around wellbeing and ecological belonging in higher education. The group works on collaborative research projects, global data collection, and shared publications that highlight how universities are advancing wellbeing worldwide.

Contemplative Pedagogy
Explores how contemplative practices can support wellbeing, awareness, and resilience in higher education. The group shares resources, personal practices, and trauma-informed approaches, while building tools and experiences that educators can integrate into teaching and learning spaces.

Ecological Belonging
Focuses on strengthening the connection between people, place, and the living world within higher education. The group develops shared principles, resources, and publications that help universities embed ecological belonging into their culture, practices, and learning environments.

Wellbeing Ambassadors
Connects students and educators who are leading wellbeing initiatives at their institutions. The group creates a space to share programs, exchange ideas, and learn from diverse approaches, strengthening a global community of wellbeing ambassadors across regions and contexts.

Student Vocation
Explores how higher education can support students in discovering purpose and meaning. The group brings together research, tools, and practices to help institutions create spaces for reflection, self-discovery, and purpose-driven learning.

Public Policy
Works at the intersection of higher education, wellbeing, and policy. The group acts as a think-tank space to explore how wellbeing-oriented policies and legislation can drive systems change within universities and beyond.

Arts
Explores the role of the arts in wellbeing, learning, and research in higher education. The group creates spaces for creative expression, arts-based practices, and interdisciplinary collaboration, highlighting how creativity deepens learning, connection, and belonging
