“HOW CAN WE USE AI TO REDUCE INEQUALITY AND SOCIAL BIAS?”

Sennay Ghebreab, professor at the University of Amsterdam and speaker at The Wellbeing Summit for Social Change, shares that AI – if set up with explicit goals that focus on human values – has the power to be a tool for quantifying inequality, which he believes could be one of the first steps to solving this issue. In this talk he shares that if the development of AI is approached in the right way, it could enhance human connection; love; compassion, and wellbeing at scale.

Sennay is group leader of the Socially-Intelligent Artificial Systems (SIAS) group, scientific director of Civic AI Lab and program director Msc Information Studies.  His research focuses on using artificial intelligence  to advance social inclusivity and  enhance equal opportunity in areas including education, mobility, health, and wellbeing. You can learn more about his work in these talks:  Humanizing AI and on How inclusive AI technology can improve social justice.
