SUMMARY:Hearth Summit Nairobi
DESCRIPTION:Organized by Axum\, Kenya is hosting the next regional Hearth Summit in Africa! Hearth Summit Nairobi will offer 300 changemakers a transformative space to examine wellbeing through a systems change lens — discussing the symbiotic relationship of the systems and practices that impact wellbeing at the individual\, collective\, and planetary levels. \nThe Summit will encourage changemakers to reflect critically on wellbeing through a uniquely Kenyan lens: how do local political\, economic\, judicial\, and social structures enable or limit wellbeing? How do activities and rituals — from dietary choices to daily routines to cultural traditions to leadership styles — do the same? These conversations\, united under a shared celebration of Kenyan culture\, will invite changemakers to lay a roadmap for collective action for the wellbeing movement in Kenya.

SUMMARY:Mental Health Collaboration Webinar: A Dive into Art Therapy
DESCRIPTION:Mental Health Collaboration Webinar: A Dive into Art Therapy\n7 August 2024 :  14:00 (BST) / 15:00 (CEST)\nArt Therapy is a behavioral therapy that can be practiced independently or as a complement \nto drug therapy. It involves outpatient sessions\, which are more patient-friendly and less \nstigmatizing than traditional hospital-based approaches. Art therapists collaborate with \npsychologists\, therapists\, educators\, and specialists from the cultural and artistic realms to \nprovide this form of therapy. \nThe Mental Health Collaboration’s webinar will include a quick introduction to understanding the tenets of Art Therapy\, and it’s positive impact on mental health. This will be followed by a look into the effects of Art Therapy among two student populations- one concerned with suicidality and the other with drug and alcohol dependency. \nJoin Anna Mikosz\, the President of The European Foundation For Art Therapy for this exciting talk! \nRegister here:  https://us06web.zoom.us/meeting/register/tZUrceCsrjgoGtbVsrA-yLgETR1RazfMlYTS\n____________________________ \nSpeaker: \nAnna Mikosz: She is the Chairman of the Board of European Foundation For Art Therapy. Over the past 15 years\, she has worked for both international and Polish companies\, addressing transformation challenges with innovative approaches. In each of these roles\, she has engaged in dialogues with governmental and non-governmental organizations\, institutions\, universities\, and patient advocacy groups. Throughout her career\, she has collaborated with professionals from diverse fields\, including health-conscious scientists. Her mission is to create an interdisciplinary platform that leverages their collective expertise to promote mental well-being for all. \nShe holds degrees from the Pomeranian Academy of Pedagogy\, Gdansk University of Technology\, Collegium Civitas\, and the Polish Institute of International Affairs. Recently\, she completed postgraduate studies in Art Therapy at the Higher School of Special Education in Warsaw. \nAn avid admirer of classical and modernist art\, particularly painting and sculpture\, she is currently developing an acrylic painting workshop. Her fascination lies in exploring the therapeutic potential of various artistic disciplines.

SUMMARY:Co-leadership: How Greenpeace UK Do It
DESCRIPTION:Leading an NGO can be lonely but what about co-leadership – how does that work? There are practical questions of how the responsibilities are shared but also how the trust and relationship is built and managed. We speak to Areeba Hamid about the successful model she and her co-leader are implementing at Greenpeace UK. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nAreeba Hamid\, Joint Executive Director at Greenpeace UK\, will share the story of how she and Will McCallum decided to apply for the leadership role together\, and how it works practically. Together they have tackled the huge responsibility of running the large and influential entity since their appointment in August 2022 – the first time this role has been held by two people. We’ll be asking\, is this something other organisations could consider? Could it be the way forward in social entrepreneurs’ succession planning? Join us to learn and bring your thoughts and questions. \nRegister here:\nhttps://us06web.zoom.us/meeting/register/g-KMLTyCSpqCrBkIBOIKmA#/registration

SUMMARY:Teaching from the Inside Out: Contemplative Tools for Strengthening Connection\, Purpose\, and Resilience in Higher Education.
DESCRIPTION:Join us for an engaging session featuring Dr. David Vago as part of the WHEN (Wellbeing in Higher Education Network at The Wellbeing Project) Contemplative Pedagogy Group Webinars. \nTeaching from the Inside Out: Contemplative Tools for Strengthening Connection\, Purpose\, and Resilience in Higher Education. \nJoin Dr. David Vago for an interactive session that promises to explore the evolving landscape of contemplative education—its foundations\, challenges\, and promising future for both primary and higher education. In this interactive session\, Dr. Vago will offer a broad overview of some of the pivotal research in contemplative education and how it both intersects with and differentiates from social-emotional learning (SEL). Drawing from his leadership with the International Society for Contemplative Research (ISCR) and its collaborative academic networks—including the Mind and Life Education Research Network\, Flourishing Academic Network and the Contemplative Education Network—he’ll highlight some of the challenges that have attempted to bridge monastic traditions and modern science with contemporary pedagogy. The session will also provide some of the latest research findings from contemplative neuroscience that illustrate key mechanisms for self-transformation through meditation\, yoga\, and breathwork. With a focus on practical tools\, shared reflection\, and an open exchange of ideas\, this session invites us to reimagine higher education as a pathway to deeper connection\, purpose\, and resilience in these uncertain times. We’ll close with key takeaways and a focus on how these ideas can be applied meaningfully in our work and lives. \nLooking forward to seeing you there! \nRegister here:\nhttps://us02web.zoom.us/j/86171492633?pwd=pwUCNMG3aMRuCVDva8etw8iolpAaOZ.1

Even so\, a broader awareness of individual\, intergenerational\, and collective trauma has yet to permeate the mainstream discourse around social and environmental problem-solving. Join this special webinar series\, co-hosted by The Wellbeing Project and the Collective Change Lab\, to navigate the challenging but ultimately hopeful waters of trauma healing and systems change. This webinar series will explore questions such as: \n– What can we see when we view trauma through a systems lens? \n– How do layers of individual\, intergenerational\, and collective trauma act as powerful forces to be reckoned with in our present-day systems? \n– How can we move from trauma-informed to healing-centered in our ways of working for systems change?

SUMMARY:Reimagining Resilience: Sustaining Our Mission In A Changing World
DESCRIPTION:The Spring team warmly invites you to join us for a free three-part webinar series designed to support you in navigating this moment by gaining deeper insights into today’s challenges and exploring alternative approaches to securing financial and organizational resilience. \nCivil society groups across the world have historically confronted a multitude of pressures to defend human rights and civil liberties. Armed conflicts\, economic volatility\, technological disruption\, plus the erosion of democracy and human rights by far-right forces are putting intense pressure on groups’ resources\, time and energy. Shockwaves from the unprecedented scale and pace of cuts to foreign aid from USAID and European funders are reverberating through social and climate justice organizations. And leaders around the world are grappling with painful choices. As these intersecting challenges unfold\, so do our efforts of collective sensemaking and strategizing. \nThe way forward may not be immediately clear\, but history—and experience—tells us that pausing to share insights and learn from one another strengthens our capacity to act with wisdom and clarity. By gathering diverse perspectives\, making sense of global shifts together\, and uncovering creative possibilities\, we can find opportunities even in crisis. \nRegister Here: \nhttps://www.springstrategies.org/reimagining-resilience-2025
