SUMMARY:Narrative Healing: An Online Course with Lisa Weinert and the Omega Institute
DESCRIPTION:Our stories have a healing purpose and are meant to be shared.  But\, what if we don’t have the tools to understand our narrative outside of what’s been told to us?  What if we don’t have access to our own story due to trauma? \nHosted by the Omega Institute\, Narrative Healing is a guided online class designed to surface the healing stories we hold in our bodies. Framed by Narrative Healing’s six-stage cycle of healing through storytelling\, this unique course offers somatic practices\, creative prompts\, and yoga exercises that illuminate a path to self and a deep connection to the world around you. \nYou will learn how: \n– Therapeutic writing programs can have tremendous effects on our physical health\, including improved immune function\, lower blood pressure\, healing from trauma\, reduced stress\, anxiety\, and depression\, increased resilience\, and more. \n– Simple\, mindful movement can help ground us\, help us be present\, and ultimately spark creativity. \n– Best practices for setting up your mind\, body\, and space can support a consistent writing practice\, which is the most effective way to set yourself on the path to healing. \n– Storytelling can be community support. Your stories—especially the ones you have kept hidden—could be the exact medicine that someone else needs. The power of truly listening and tools to become a compassionate listener both to yourself and those around you. \n– You can become a healing force in the world\, by integrating your stories\, sharing them\, and listening to others in your everyday life. \nWriters and non-writers alike are invited to join author and writing coach Lisa Weinert for weekly live discussions. In between meetings\, you can work at your own pace through self-paced content\, including guided movement and mindfulness practices and creative writing prompts designed to revive your creative practice. You’ll also have access to lively guest interviews with storytellers and authors Crystal McCreary\, Carla Zanoni\, Shelly Tygielski\, Holly Wren Spaulding\, and Jillian Pransky. \nREGISTER HERE

SUMMARY:To Dream: A Regenerar Workshop
DESCRIPTION:To Dream Workshop is a call to open your heart and mind to the transformation of the wounded world you are part of so that you might step into different ways of habitating the world. As part of our commitment to the Commons\, registration is free and required to attend. \nOn March 6th we will host the second workshop in the Regenerar series on the theme of To Dream. Why have dreaming and its precursor of sleep been identified as a liberatory act of transformation to interrupt the status quo? Here we will explore how dreaming creates the space for imagining and the regeneration of new paradigms. We’ll inquire into recovering the right and space to dream apart from Capitalism’s functions. We’ll be using artistic practices to sense into our dreams while awake and asleep so that we might repattern life on this damaged planet. \nREGISTER HERE

SUMMARY:Chicago Beyond: The State of Birth Justice in America
DESCRIPTION:There is a powerful movement for birth justice happening in the United States. That momentum is driven by people taking matters into their own hands to advocate\, fund\, storytell\, and build solutions that will make a difference in the lives of Black families. \nWhile it is the unfortunate truth that in America\, Black women are three to four times more likely to die from pregnancy-related complications than white women – despite various socioeconomic factors and advances in healthcare – we also know that change is underway. It will take collective action and a coalition of the willing to end the existing harsh disparities in our healthcare system nationwide. \nJoin Chicago Beyond on March 14 for a conversation on birth justice with four powerful voices: Producer & Director Tonya Lewis Lee\, Sona Smith of Ms. Foundation for Women\, our Founder & CEO Liz Dozier\, & Jeanine Valrie Logan\, our Leader in Residence\, midwife\, & Founder of The Chicago South Side Birth Center. SUMMARY:Addressing Funding Challenges for Mental Health Initiatives in India
DESCRIPTION:The Catalyst 2030: Mental Health Collaboration are hosting their next webinar on the 24th of April and it’s set to be a great chance to discuss mental health funding in India. \n\nMental health is beginning to feature on the donor agenda in India philanthropy. Over the last decade or so\, many new donors are giving in different ways to support mental health initiatives. Yet\, considering the massive scale of the challenge\, much more private funding is needed. \n\nHowever\, donors face significant hurdles when funding this sector. For instance\, there is a lack of a clear path for donors in terms of ‘how to’\, a dearth of credible data and knowledge\, and pervasive stigma associated with mental health that often limit interest from donors. Navigating this complex terrain requires concerted efforts and innovative approaches. \n\nHow can donors and nonprofits overcome these challenges? What would motivate new and increased funding for mental health? What are some ways to think about outcomes? This webinar will address these questions and more\, based on the collective experiences of the social sector in India. \n\nKetaki Purohit (Centre Head for the Centre for Asian Philanthropy India) will be joined by Jasmine Kalha (Program Director and Research Fellow at the Centre for Mental Health Law & Policy) and Disket Angmo (Strategy & Operations Lead of Mann Talks) for this panel discussion. \n\nTo Register:  https://us06web.zoom.us/meeting/register/tZwpfuiurz4qHNWboME2hnwvtnZ1J7gMNDfj

SUMMARY:Social Innovation: Stories Worth Telling
DESCRIPTION:Join the Elders Council for Social Entrepreneurs on the 2nd of May for ‘Social Innovation: Stories Worth Sharing’ where Mel Young MBE (President and co-founder of the Homeless World Cup) and Cynthia Rayner (independent consultant\, researcher and storyteller) discuss the importance of storytelling in raising awareness\, funds and impact! It can even help ensure the sustainability of your organisation by creating a legacy that impacts well beyond your #succession. \nThis webinar is inspired by the success of ‘The Beautiful Game’\, a Netflix feature film based around the Homeless World Cup. The film is a fantastic example of how storytelling can bring social realities into sharp focus while inspiring us with work that changes lives. This storytelling has propelled social innovation into the mainstream media\, with the film hitting number 1 in the UK Netflix rankings and number 5 in the global rankings! Mel will provide insights about why the creators of the film were interested in the tournament and the impact the film is already having for the real Homeless World Cup Foundation. #MoreThanAFilm \nCynthia will share insights from her experience of leading the Systems Storytelling Initiative at the Collective Change Lab\, bringing together a diverse group of storytellers from across the globe to understand how to better communicate stories of systems change. Having watched the film she will also highlight what tools have been successfully employed in the film and how these can help stories make a lasting impact – no matter the format. \nRegister free: https://us06web.zoom.us/meeting/register/tZYudO6pqDgtG9GAp1Bh8e8LTgbTVPIUWiVq #SocialImpact #SocialInnovation #Storytelling

SUMMARY:Cities Ending Homelessness CCW2024
DESCRIPTION:Join the Cities Ending Homelessness session during Catalysing Change Week. Cities are where homelessness is most concentrated and where the greatest challenges arise – whether social\, financial or political. Cities are where solutions are most needed and where real-world solutions will emerge. We’ll hear from Mel Young (Homeless World Cup)\, Suzanne Fitzpatrick (Heriot-Watt University) and Chris Underhill (Mental Health Collaboration of Catalyst 2030). As they gain momentum in their second year\, Mel will outline their exciting plans for the future and invite you to join their thematic working groups that seek to share ideas from different sectors in the bid to find lasting solutions to homelessness. There is no single cause of homelessness and no single solution\, so let’s explore ideas from across all sectors to make a greater impact together.\n\nRegister free: https://catalyst2030.net/events/cities-ending-homelessness-cross-sector-solutions/

SUMMARY:Social Entrepreneurs Passing the Baton – DY Suharya
DESCRIPTION:Succession planning is one thing\, achieving the plan is another. In this webinar the Elders Council for Social Entrepreneurs will host a ‘fireside chat’ with DY Suharya\, an incredible social entrepreneur who has built an organisation and become a thought leader in her field. Having created her organisation\, Alzheimer’s Indonesia (ALZI)\, she will “always remain its founder” but she is keen to avoid ‘founders’ syndrome’ as she moves through her succession. DY will describe the practical steps she has already taken as she moves into the final stage of passing the baton. They’ll also discuss her passion for promoting succession and transition planning as a means of protecting the sustainability of the sector\, setting an example for the 20 associations and organisations she works with as Regional Director of Alzheimer’s Disease International (ADI).\n\nIt’s one not to miss! SUMMARY:Hearth Summit Nairobi
DESCRIPTION:Organized by Axum\, Kenya is hosting the next regional Hearth Summit in Africa! Hearth Summit Nairobi will offer 300 changemakers a transformative space to examine wellbeing through a systems change lens — discussing the symbiotic relationship of the systems and practices that impact wellbeing at the individual\, collective\, and planetary levels. \nThe Summit will encourage changemakers to reflect critically on wellbeing through a uniquely Kenyan lens: how do local political\, economic\, judicial\, and social structures enable or limit wellbeing? How do activities and rituals — from dietary choices to daily routines to cultural traditions to leadership styles — do the same? These conversations\, united under a shared celebration of Kenyan culture\, will invite changemakers to lay a roadmap for collective action for the wellbeing movement in Kenya.
